What is my skin type?
Eight questions about how your skin behaves through a normal day. The result maps you to one of five common skin types and explains which answers pointed there.
Question 1 of 80% complete
Two hours after washing your face with a gentle cleanser and applying nothing, how does it feel?
Answer for a normal day, not a day when your skin is irritated.
Common questions
- How accurate is an online skin type test?
- A questionnaire captures how your skin behaves, which is genuinely how skin type is classified in practice. What it cannot do is measure sebum output or hydration directly, so treat the result as a well-informed starting point rather than a lab reading.
- What are the five skin types?
- Dry, oily, combination, and normal describe how much surface oil your skin produces. Sensitive is different — it describes reactivity, and it can sit on top of any of the other four. That is why you can be both oily and sensitive.
- Can my skin type change?
- Yes. Skin type shifts with age, season, climate, hormones, medication, and the products you use. Many people who believe their type changed permanently are actually seeing a temporary dehydrated state, which is worth testing separately.
- What is the difference between dry and dehydrated skin?
- Dry skin lacks oil and is a skin type. Dehydrated skin lacks water and is a temporary condition that can happen to oily skin too. If your skin feels tight but still looks shiny, dehydration is the more likely explanation.
- Do I need to take a photo?
- No. This test runs entirely in your browser and asks only about how your skin behaves. Nothing is uploaded and no account is required.
